Gallery-9 Presents “Cross Sections”

A collaboration by featured artists Jeff Tocher and Michael Kenney.

Jeff Tocher paints a cross-section of layered thoughts. These usually involve a local site and out of place animal and Iconic Imagery. Whether it’s God explaining string theory to Bob the Dog or a relocated elk working at Wal-Mart, it’s bound to make you think and smile.

Jeweler Michael Kenney meanwhile physically cuts cross-sections of rare and ancient materials. Such as Mammoth Ivory, from tusks buried in the Alaskan permafrost for 10 thousand years capturing beautiful earthy colors. Dinosaur bone, turned to agate over 150 million years has a warm red glow. Meteorites, traveling through space for over 7 billion years before being caught by Earth’s gravity, speak of the beauty of the cosmos. These slices of life joined by precious stones and metals form the pallet for the new creations for this special show.

Reception coincides with gallery walk from 5 to 8 on June 7th and continues through the month of June. Gallery 9 is located at 1012 Water Street, Port Townsend, and WA.
